Arbor Day April 2019
Since the late 1980s, the BPA has held an annual Arbor Day celebration in Burnham Park at which over 2,000 trees have been planted. We clean up the Park and plant trees followed by a lunch and a chance to get to know our neighbors. All ages enjoy this special day, often attended by Morristown and Morris Township officials, environmental groups and the Burnham heirs. This year, we were thrilled by the large, enthusiastic turnout at our cleanup and planting despite the cool, windy day. We planted a sweet gum in memory of our late Trustee / Treasurer Bill Claxton, a river birch, and a pin oak donated by the Sieberts. We cleaned up debris and repainted the Burnham Park entrance sign. The morning ended with a lunch courtesy of the BPA. Thanks to trustee Joe Attamante for heading up the effort.
Neighborhood families were joined by the Morristown Shade Tree Commission (Kristin Ace, Bob Norkin and Sandi Mayer), volunteers from the Unity Charter School, Township Deputy Mayor Cathy Wilson and the two great great granddaughters (Alantha Carter and Ann Carter Lyons) of the park donors Frederick and Catherine Burnham.

Rainbarrel Workshop - 2014
The BPA held an educational session with Pat Rector from Rutgers University on rain barrels with help from Arts by the People who supplied brushes, paints and a professional artist to help guide the painting of the barrels. The workshop took place in the afternoon following the annual Arbor Day morning activities in Burnham Park. It was a free event although attendees had to purchase their barrels.
